Design Process

A few examples of sketches and the thought process behind some designs.

Ukraine Icon

Intended as a national logo for the country of Ukraine, this design incorporates characteristics specific to the country. Each square denotes important apects of the nation (sun, rivers, churches, mountains) and the general color scheme directly reflects the country's blue and gold flag.

Zaino Logo

This is an example of one brand name carried through to have two very different meanings. The first one is intended to evoke a natural, laid back attitude, expressed especially through the subdued color palette. In the second variation, the unique shape of the letter form "Z" is used to complete the pictorial element of the martini glass. A sleek look, reflecting the product is represented in the sharp, black letters.

Fairview Creek Watershed Council

This logo was the winner of a contest to design a new logo for the Fairview Creek Watershed Council in Fairview, OR. The design went through numerous iterations before the final logo - which included elements of water, forest and city life - was completed. The logo was slightly modified to accommodate the needs of street signage.
